Here at the School Food Company we are passionate about good quality school food. That's why, in 2007, we formed a company committed to getting local produce into the kitchens of primary schools across Cheshire.
For the same price as a meal, which can often arrive frozen from a long way away, we have revolutionised the way school meals are served. We provide good, honest locally sourced food. We offer free range and organic ingredients within our menus which come directly from farm to fork.
Instead of processed powdered cake mix, children enjoy cakes made from scratch using free range eggs. Instead of frozen free flow mince, packaged in the UK, fresh organic minced beef comes straight from the local farm. Frozen slab pizza has been replaced with freshly made pizza and tired looking fruit baskets have been replaced with fresh and appealing fruit platters.
School Food Company offer a hugely personalised service. We can provide your school with either a cafeteria style menu or fixed priced menu in line with Cheshire's current recommended price structure. Yes that is correct, locally sourced and organic ingredients for the same price per lunch as you are currently paying - delivered to your own specification!
We are able to provide this service within the standard school meal budget because we have no middle management or distribution costs to worry about. Our farming suppliers deliver free range and organic produce to school them selves.
Our Management and Catering team work as part of the school community rather than just an outside catering company. We actively participate in School Nutritional Action Groups, food related school events, educational visits linked to food in the curriculum and work hard to promote a whole school approach to food.
School Food Company have established links with local farms and local businesses who supply their produce directly to us. We are able to extend these links to the children through educational visits to schools by our farmers and suppliers. The children are also able to visit our suppliers' farms to experience the journey from field to plate first hand. Our Company also assist schools in running extra-curricular cookery classes - not only can the children learn about where their food comes from but they can also learn how to cook it!
